Although the block of colored glass are new, exciting and cool to use in a window, a wall or shower project there are still many questions on the use of colored blocks, you can use them, and what product options are available. The 9 questions most frequently asked questions about product and process are explained below.
1. What are the sizes, styles, shapes and designs can I get glass blocks of color? – Virtually any size, style, form and design are available.
o U.S. sizes include 4 "x 8", 6 "x 6" 6 "x 8", 8 "x 8" and 12 "x 12". Most often, and generally the most profitable, the block size is designed with 8 "x 8 ". There are metric blocks of color, but their supply is more limited in the United States and the availability of colored blocks in the shape of turning corners, Corners and ends is practically nonexistent.
o All forms (corner blocks, end blocks, corner blocks, block radius for curved walls, and block both ends of the stage along the walls) can be colored with pigment drilling and filling process.
O Designs, models, and even slightly beveled blocks can obtain standard or custom colors applied to them as well.
2. How many colors or finishes are available? Each manufacturer has its own line of blocks and mixing and matching colors from one manufacturer to another is generally not recommended. Pittsburgh Corning creates 3 pastel blue, pink and bronze. Color Glass Block 8 standard colors are very bright including a popular ruby red, orange topaz, emerald and sapphire blue color. Custom colors can also be created to match or contrast with the scenery. Some blocks can be purchased with a satin finish or be sanded after the dyeing process to create more a muted color effect.
3. Perhaps the color blocks used outside and inside? – Yes, the color blocks are sealed and moisture free and safe to use for windows, walls, showers, or if they are exposed to external elements or not. In fact, a glass outdoor hot block sculpture was created using ruby red blocks in New Mexico.
4. How can color blocks are put together? – These blocks are assembled in the same manner as the clear standard units are assembled and installed. For windows and walls right high quality and cost effective way to put the blocks is thus using prefabricated panel sections. These panels can be purchased with a vinyl spacer system battery to adjust a wall section on top of another section of the wall easy to do. This system of separation also has an interlocking design to link the new glass wall in your existing walls – make your facility safe. Blocks of colored glass may be assembled with mortar or silicone to reach the various units. Contact a block window manufacturer for further advice on the pros and cons these two approaches.
5. How long does it take to obtain blocks of colored glass? – Some blocks of color in American size 8 "x 8" and metric size 7 ½ "x 7 ½" will be stored and available for immediate shipment in a wavy pattern design, although the selection the color will be more limited. For different sizes, shapes and patterns can allow 2 to 3 times the week of placing the order to receiving your product.
6. Perhaps the block-color? Yes. Custom colors can be created. Usually the best way to achieve this is by sending a sample of your fabric, wallpaper, tiles, glass, etc. match. A customer near Phoenix, Arizona sent in a pane of glass to create a band of brown in their shower glass block wall. The best sources are usually block window, wall, shower and suppliers who are deeply involved in the supply industry, manufacturing, and through installation.
