I want to paint wooden boxes such as the Japanese lacquer.?
Has anyone attempted such a thing? I did some research Internet and I found good instructions for painting motorcycles to finish Supergloss, repaint computers with mirror finish, but never wood. the Since the process involves booting a little sanding, use a tack cloth, spray ultra-bright in the dark. Wait 2 weeks and start sanding from 400 grit and working the project up to 2000 grains. Use a car polisher and polish, wait 2 weeks and use a paste wax. I would like to decorate with black lacquer with gold leaf only in certain places and I'm trying to figure out when I application sheet. The sheet sticks and make the matte finish after all that work. I thought to put the sheet and then spray clear lacquer. Then sanding and polishing all with the right of gold leaf from the beginning. Basically, I'd be the clear lacquer finish. Would it still be up to a mirror finish? Would it work?
